Texture Artistry Classes (3) Presented by Michelle Anderson
PLEASE READ: Basic Photoshop is a prerequisite for these classes.
I will show you the tools you need to use to create layers, blend and adjust the individual layers and use Brushes in your artwork. Your responsibility is to know how to find the tools, and basic components such as files, and how to get your photo into Photoshop from your files on the server or a flash drive.
Please* If you don’t know how to do any of the above, … Please see me before classes start. We can make an appointment so I can sit with you to determine whether you are ready to join the class. There are plenty of helpers who can show you the basics before class starts. You are also responsible to Create Your Own personal folder on the Server in Club. Its vital for you to have this before classes start.
Supplies: Pen, Paper, portable thumb or flash drive.
CLASS 1 - Intro to Texture Artistry (January 9)
Introduction: How I Started my story in 5 minutes or less
Texture Artistry: What is it.
The first class will cover the selections of photos that are best suited for “Texture Artistry”, including subject matter, textures what are they, and where to find them. What are Layers. What are blending modes, and how does opacity affect our layers, or brush. I will show you before and after photos to see how you can take a hum drum image and turn it into outstanding artwork.
WORKSPACE
Learn how to set up your workspace in Photoshop. This will include tools needed to create your art are in Photoshop at home.
Transferring the class material into your personal Camera Club folder. We will create a workspace to use during to use during these classes that you can create on your own computer at home. This will include tools needed to create your art are in Photoshop.
Bring paper and pen paper for notes.
CLASS 2 - The Basics (January 16)
Let’s learn the layers panel.
The Layers Panel
Layers Panel and Textures and Brushes will be discussed in length. You will learn the Layers Panel and all the parts that you will need to succeed in creating a beautiful image. Several sources of textures will be identified, some for purchase, some free, if you have some, bring them in to share with others. I will show you how to apply a texture to an image by using Layers.

Brushes
You will learn the best brush to use, some shortcuts, and how to change the opacity in your brush. Without using brushes its just not ART.
This entire class will take place in the Computer Lab Room. *Bring paper and pen for notes.
CLASS 3 - Time to Create, Make a Recipe and Critique (January 23)
Create
Create your own image start to finish in Class, different from ones you might do at home. With the knowledge You have gained from the prior classes, You will apply the learned skills to create a final product utilizing YOUR own photos. I will be available to assist you where needed.
Lets make a Texture Recipe:
I will teach you how to create a recipe from a style you love so you can re-create it in other images for a study or group of photo’s. Different than an Action.
Critique
Bring your questions. If time permits, the final products will be peer reviewed. Comments from third parties are often useful when developing future projects. Bring your photos, textures, and layers on a flash or thumb drive with your Before and After images.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES
To sign up for a class or classes, log into cameraguildsuncity.com select the class(es) and then select “I will attend”. If your plans change, sign into the website, select the class and then “I will not attend” so the space will be available to others.
Fee: $7.00 for each class
