Coffee and Videos

(See information below on this week's video)

Come one-come all to our Coffee and Videos informal gatherings on Friday afternoons .  We will gather in the Club Room from 1:30-3:30 p.m.  At these gatherings we will be watching pre-recorded, professional produced instructional videos.  Subject matter of the videos will be about photography and videography and can include:

  • Equipment needed
  • Equipment usage
  • Setup for shoots
  • Composition techniques
  • Processing images/videos
  • Types of processing software and how to use it
  • Printing images
  • Etc.

Whether you are new to the club or have been around for some time, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.  Bring your questions with you.  Someone likely has the same question and someone likely has an answer.  This is a great opportunity for our newer members (and older members for that matter) to get help and enhance their skills.  As the saying goes, the only bad question is one that is never asked.

This will be a new learning experience for all of us.  Your suggestions about subject matter is welcome and encouraged.

Registration is not necessary.  Just show up.

VIDEO DESCRIPTION

Control Light By Using Strobes

Strobe lighting can feel overwhelming when you’re just starting out.  With so many options, techniques, settings, and variables, many photographers are too intimidated to give strobes a chance.  Veteran photographer Erik Valind will take the mystery out of strobes and show you how to add them to your repertoire so you can create beautiful imagery.

In this video, you’ll learn how to:

o Utilize strobes in conjunction with natural light to improve your photos.

o Control the direction and quality of your light.

o Understand the various uses of strobes and how to adjust their settings.

When you bring your own lights on a shoot, you’re no longer at the mercy of poor natural light and unpredictable weather.  This video will give you an A to Z overview of new lighting techniques to help you take control of the light and be more creative with your images.
