INSTRUCTOR

Michelle Anderson creates some very beautiful art utilizing photographs, textures, and Photoshop.  Over the years she has refined her skills, identified resources, and located markets for her products.  We are fortunate to have her as a Camera Guild member and pleased that she has offered to teach a series of classes that share her knowledge.  Several pieces of her work have been purchased and used on book covers throughout the world.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS/DATES

CLASS 1 - Intro to Texture Artistry (April 4)

The first class will be a lecture covering the selection of photos, subject matter, textures, and layers.  This will be followed by lab work in the Computer Room learning how to set up your workspace in Photoshop, also transferring the class material into your personal Camera Club folder.  We will create a workspace to use during these classes.  This will include tools needed to create your art are in Photoshop.  *Bring paper and pen for notes.

CLASS 2 - The Basics (April 11) TODAY

Let’s learn the layers panel.  The Layers Panel and Textures will be discussed in length.  Several sources of textures will be identified, some for purchase, some free, and others made by you the students.  Also, the type of texture, coloring, blending, etc.  Bring in textures you may already have along on a thumb drive.  Also, a photo or photos to begin working on.  You will be given a homework assignment for the next class.  Note: This entire class will take place in the Computer Room.  *Bring paper and pen for notes.

CLASS 3 - Time to Create and Critique (April 18)

With the knowledge they have gained from the prior classes, students will apply their skills to create a final product utilizing their own photos and layers.  If time permits, the final products will be peer reviewed.  Comments from third parties are often useful when developing future projects.  Bring your photos, textures, and layers on a flash drive if you have not already loaded them into your personal folder at the Camera Guild.  Note: This class will take place in the Computer Room.

PREREQUISITE

Students must know how to create folders, download photos from cameras to flash drives and reload them into Photoshop.  Please create a personal folder on the server in the Camera Guild lab prior to the class.  We will be using this to save files for future classes.  If you cannot accomplish these skills with confidence, please attend a Basic Computer class offered or ask for assistance from club members prior to attending these classes.
